The Department is pleased to announce the rollout of Promoting Healthy Sexual Development, a
new training for all members of the child welfare team who are parenting children. The
training seeks to improve prevention and delay of pregnancy and to prevent sexually transmitted
infections among youth in care. This training is designed to have caseworkers, foster caregivers
and parents in the classroom together, learning and sharing. It consists of two, 3-hour sessions,
for a total of 6 hours training credit. The two sessions will be spaced about a week apart, to allow
time for participants to practice what they learned in session one then come back to class and discuss
it. Participants must attend both sessions.
Classes are scheduled during weekdays, plus weekday evenings and Saturdays, to make it as convenient
as possible to attend. Register from the homepage of the Virtual Training Center (VTC) at
