Illinois expects to receive $1.5 million in matching grants from Occupational Safety and Health Administration.

The United States Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) announced on July 10, 2009 its intent to grant approval to the Illinois Department of Labor (IDOL) as an OSHA State Plan for public employees in Illinois. OSHA State Plan approval would provide IDOL with $1.5 million in federal matching grants to enhance its health and safety programs for public employees.

The July 10, 2009 Federal Register Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (see below) is open for a 30-day comment on the Illinois State Plan. It and the accompanying documentation is available here and in each of the Illinois Department of Labor offices for public viewing.
