INDOOR AIR QUALITY
The Safety Inspection and Education Division assists public entities in addressing Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) concerns. The Division received grant monies from the US EPA to be used to address IAQ issues in the public school systems. Assessments and sampling can be conducted in the schools at no charge (. . . FREE) by our qualified Industrial Hygienists.
Typical IAQ concerns are addressed via public employee complaints or through an advisory inspection at the request of the employer. Examples include:
· Temperature, humidity problems
· “Stuffy” air, lack of movement
· Dirt or particulates on or from the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system (HVAC)
· Visible mold growth
· Unusual odors, (i.e., chemical, musty . . .)
· Sickness associated with public building occupancy such as headache, nausea, drowsiness, dizziness, congestion,
itching, irritation of the eyes, nose or throat, coughing and fatigue. These common flu-like symptoms are not experienced
outside of the facility.
