INDUSTRIAL HOMEWORK ACT

What does the Industrial Homework Act regulate?

The Industrial Homework Act regulates the processing or assembling of products in the home when parts or materials are supplied by an employer. The law prohibits certain types of manufacturing and requires registration of employers and certification of employees. For more information, click here. 820 ILCS 240/2.

How do I, as an employee, obtain a homework certificate?

The Department of Labor does not issue homework certificates directly to employees. The employee must obtain the certificate through the company that hired you. Please contact your employer for certification. For more information, click here. 820 ILCS 240/6.
