Displaced Homemakers Assistance Act

The Illinois Displaced Homemakers Program promotes economic self-sufficiency by offering easily-accessible job readiness services and life skills preparation to displaced homemakers who face numerous barriers to education, training, basic skills learning, and sustainable employment.
Note: In Fiscal Year 2009 (July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009), the Illinois Department of Labor's budget was reduced through a line item veto of $621,300 for Displaced Homemakers Assistance Act Grants due to the state budget deficit. Funding for Displaced Homemakers Assistance Act Grants is not included in the budget request for Fiscal Year 2010 (July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2010).
