Ms. Illinois American Classic
Woman Pageant
Deadline Approaching

SPRINGFIELD, IL – Early registration is encouraged for women participating in the Ms. Illinois American Classic Woman Pageant to be held March 14-17, 2002, in Oakbrook Terrace.

"I encourage people to start thinking about a dynamic older woman who represents the health and vitality of older women and someone who epitomizes aging with grace," said Margo E. Schreiber, Director of the Illinois Department on Aging, a pageant sponsor. "We are hoping to receive the applications by the end of the year (and by February 1st at the latest) as we are limited to how many women may participate this year."

The Ms. American Classic Woman Pageant is for women age 60 and older. Judges consider interview, stage presence, talent, and life philosophies. The winner travels the state promoting wellness and fitness, and encouraging other adults to become involved in worthwhile activities. The winner also represents Illinois in the National American Classic Woman Pageant held in the fall in Wilmington, Delaware.

For an application or more information about the 13th Annual Ms. Illinois American Classic Woman Pageant, call the Illinois Department on Aging’s Senior HelpLine at 1-800-252-8966 (Voice and TTY) or link to the Pageant Web page. The application must be accompanied by a $100 entry fee, which may be obtained through scholarships.
