Steven M. Ravid, Clerk First District Appellate Court
Steven M. Ravid was born in Chicago on May 11, 1946. He was
educated at the University of Wisconsin and Loyola University School of Law. He
served in the Army Reserves, as a law
clerk for Justice John J. Sullivan, and as an
Assistant Attorney General, Revenue Litigation Division, for the
State of Illinois. In 1980, he was appointed as
Administrative Attorney for the Appellate Court, First District,
and in 1986 added the duties of Chief Deputy Clerk. In April
2001, he was appointed Clerk of the Court. He is married to Mary R. Ravid.
Robert J. Mangan Second District Appellate Court
Robert J. Mangan was born on January
14, 1952, in Evergreen Park and was educated at John Carroll
University and John Marshall Law School. As a civil litigation
attorney, he practiced in Cook and DuPage Counties for the past 24
years. In February, 2002, Mr. Mangan was appointed as Clerk of the
Court. He and his wife, Jennifer, live in Wheaton with their four
children.
Gist Fleshman Third District Appellate Court
Gist Fleshman was born July 19,1957, in St. Louis. He was educated at Illinois State University (B.S.) and DePaul University (J.D.). Prior to law school, he worked two years in Washington, D.C. as a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Representative Tom Corcoran. Following law school, he joined the Third District Appellate Court as a Staff Attorney and was subsequently promoted to Research Director. In 1992, he was appointed Clerk of the Court. He and his wife, Christine, have four children.
Carla Bender Fourth District Appellate Court
Carla Bender was born December 27,1959 in Lincoln, Illinois. She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Legal Studies and Master of Arts in Communication from the University of Illinois. Prior to being elected Clerk of the Circuit Court in Logan County in 1992, she was a Probation officer and later a Field Coordinator in the Probation Division of the Administrative Office of Illinois Courts. Ms. Bender served four terms as Circuit Court Clerk in Logan County until she was appointed Clerk of the Fourth District Appellate Court during the first year of her fifth term in 2009. She and her husband have two children.
John J. Flood Fifth District Appellate Court
John J. Flood was born in Chicago in 1953 and educated at Eastern Illinois University (B.A.) and Southern Illinois University (J.D.). After law school, he was in private practice for six years before joining the Fifth District Appellate Court in 1984, where he served as a staff attorney for 25 years. In July 2009, he was appointed Clerk of the Court. He and his wife, Joan, have three children.
