Description of Position:
The Training Manager facilitates and coordinates all phases of judicial education
curriculum design, planning, presentation and delivery, including the management of off-site training events.
The Training Manager assists in evaluating programs and assessing future training needs, and develops reports
and summaries of judicial educational efforts. The Training Manager works closely with the Assistant Director
of the Judicial Education Division, Division staff and judicial faculty and Supreme Court committee members to
plan, coordinate and facilitate ongoing judicial education programs for Illinois judges and judicial branch staff.
The Training Manager may also be assigned additional tasks, including, but not limited to, the management of
judicial benchbooks, grants, and other matters as determined by the needs of the Division and the
Minimum: A minimum of three (3) years
progressively responsible experience, preferably post J.D., in an educational or training environment, or in the
development and administration of adult education or training programs. A J.D. from an ABA accredited law
school is required. Successful candidate must possess strong organizational, project management, oral and
written communication skills, and have a demonstrated knowledge of basic office technologies and legal
research products including Microsoft Office 2007 (Word, Excel, Publisher, Outlook), Adobe Reader,
PowerPoint, LexisNexis and Westlaw research tools. Working knowledge of Word Perfect, Keynote (Apple),
online meeting technologies (GoToMeeting, WebEx, etc.) and distance learning technologies, strongly
Preferred: Post J.D., in an educational or training environment, or in the
development and administration of adult education or training programs.
Ability to sit and stand for extended time periods. Lifting, carrying and
transporting of office-related equipment and materials to-and-from meetings and event sites expected.
Normal office working environment requiring extensive use of a personal computer, telephone, facsimile and
other office technologies, in addition to the management of off-site facilities and technologies during judicial
education events and meetings.
Work Hours & Location
Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. with some additional work hours and occasional
state-wide travel, including weekend, early morning and evening travel.
