"Substance abuse screen" means the tool used to document observations about a client's behavior that may indicate the presence of a substance abuse problem. A screen is not a diagnostic tool; it only indicates whether a referral should be made for a formal substance abuse assessment. The screening tool is designed to be used by child protection and DCFS/POS child welfare staff, and does not require extensive AODA training or certification. (PG 99.13)
