Office of the State Appellate Defender

Description: The Office of the State Appellate Defender is a state agency created by the State Appellate Defender Act (725 Illinois Compiled Statutes, Act 105). The principal function of the Office of the State Appellate Defender is to represent indigent persons on appeal in criminal cases when appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court, Appellate Court or Circuit Court.

Some records in the custody of the Agency are in book, pamphlet or other form. A charge may be assessed for such materials based upon their cost. Some materials are available without charge at the State Appellate Defender web site.
