Dear Rev. Brooks,
I have the honor of introducing your acquaintance, Mr. Edward Chafman, merchant of this city. Mr. C. Is a member of
the Presbyterian Church. He went your villiage for the purpose of placing his brother onto your care as a scholar in your
seminary.
Any attention you may have is in your power to give him, where he will belong and must thankfully remain by him and by
you.
Friend and Brother,
Elija Lovejoy
