ICS-300 Intermediate ICS for Expanding Incidents

ICS 300/400 Curriculum has been handed off from IEMA to the Illinois Fire Service Institute.
As of October 1, 2008, IEMA has transferred the management of the ICS 300/400 curriculum to the Illinois Fire Service Institute (IFSI). IFSI will be responsible for course scheduling, student registration, issuing certificates, scheduling course instructors and answering any questions related to the ICS 300/400 curriculum. Currently, Bill Farnum has been assigned as the program manager. This course provides training on and resources for personnel who require advanced application of the Incident Command System(ICS). The target audience includes all individuals who may assume a supervisory role in expanding incidents. This course expands upon information covered in ICS 100 and 200 courses. (Both are pre-requisites for ICS 300.) The course also allows those identified personnel, including public health personnel, to comply with ICS level 300 training. This is a requirement for those jurisdictions that choose to comply with the National Incident Management System(NIMS) to ensure they continue receiving their federal preparedness funding grants. We are recommending that jurisdictions identify middle management who are going to be acting in the role of incident commander or section chief during an event to take the IS 300 course.
Course Length: 16 hours
ICS 300 Pre-Requisites:
Each student must successfully complete either IS 100-Introduction to Incident Command and IS 200-ICS for Single Resources and Initial Action Incidents(independent study courses listed on the FEMA website http://www.training.fema.gov/EMIWeb/IS/crslist.asp) "or" the Unified Command Course currently listed on the Illinois Fire Service Institute training calendar http://www.fsi.uiuc.edu/. Completion certificates for these courses must accompany the student application. For those planning on taking ICS 300 or ICS 300 and 400, the Unified Command course is more appropriate than IS 100 and 200.
