MORRIS, IL—The first in a series of regional BASSET (Beverage Alcohol Sellers and Servers Education and Training) meetings, hosted by the Illinois Liquor Control Commission (ILCC), is set for Thursday, December 11, 2008, 1:00-3:00pm at the Grundy County Administration Building, 1320 Union Ave. in Morris.
Held in response to a Grundy County drunk driving crash that killed a mother and her young children, ILCC administrators will lead a discussion on how local officials can address responsible alcohol service issues in their communities.
In attendance will be mayors and police chiefs in Grundy County and nearby communities. During the meeting, ILCC Executive Director Lainie Krozel, Chief Legal Counsel Rick Haymaker, and BASSET Manager Lee Roupas will present information to these local officials on how to enact a mandatory training ordinance for their alcohol sellers/servers.
Also sharing their ideas on how to combat drunk driving will be Grundy County Chairman Frank Halpin, IDOT Traffic Safety Law Enforcement Liaison Bob Park, Toshi Lukens from the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office, District 5 Safety Education Officer Mark T. Dorencz of the Illinois State Police, Plainfield Mayor James Waldorf, and Officer Mark Siegal from the Plainfield Police Department.
